CURB extends congratulations to our Board member and social activist Wayne Chance who was awarded the Hummingbird Medal (Silver) at the National Independence Day Awards Ceremony yesterday for his extensive work in Community Service since his release from prison more than 10 years ago.
Mr. Chance is the founder and CEO of Vision on Mission which provides reintegration services inclusive of housing, employment assistance and counselling to ex-offenders and deportees.
The stated objectives of that organisation are:-
- To provide rehabilitation services for prisoners returning to society and to lobby for the acceptance of ex-inmates by the society with a view to reducing the rate of recidivism.
- To continue to conduct a relentless campaign against crime and lawlessness locally, regionally and internationally.
- To provide comprehensive services for the treatment of delinquency.
CURB wishes Mr. Chance and Vision on Mission all the best in their endeavours to make this country a safer place to live. We also hope that this landmark award would open the door for the greater acceptance of ex-offenders by the wider society.
